Nominations for the OMA Awards of Excellence
Dear Museum Colleagues:
As your newly appointed Chair of the Awards of Excellence Committee,
I am writing to remind you and encourage you to submit your nominations
by our upcoming deadline of Friday, September 16.
As you are aware, new award categories have been introduced this
year and include three categories in which museum members can nominate
individuals, projects and corporations for their significant contributions
to the museum community. Please think about the accomplishments
your museum has made over the past year and submit your nominations
today. The Award of Excellence recipients will be acknowledged at
the upcoming OMA Conference in Niagara Falls on Friday, October
14, 2005.
Nomination categories
- Award of Excellence
- Lifetime Achievement Award of Excellence
- Corporate Service Award of Excellence
To make a nomination, please visit the OMA
website for full details and a nomination
form.
We all know someone who has gone that extra mile to make a project
successful. Please acknowledge them by submitting your nominations.
Sincerely,
Janice Smith
Chair, Awards of Excellence Committee

Debating Team Revealed!
The "Do We Need More Community Museums?" session
debating teams are assembled. The "Yes We Do!"
side will be supported by Dr. Aldona Sendzikas of the University
of Waterloo History Department and the Fanshawe Pioneer Village
Board, and Tom Reitz, Manager/Curator of Doon Heritage Crossroads.
The "No We Don't!" side will be argued by Randall
Denley, City Columnist for the Ottawa Citizen (his focus is on how
government spends your money) and Jon Linton of TCI Management Consultants,
who has described himself as "a natural contrarian."
Remember, forewarned is forearmed. If you know the arguments and
the perspectives, you can prepare yourself and your museum!
