CMOG update, Standards Workshops, Free Toolkit and Award of Merit extension

September 16, 2003

THE ONTARIO Museum Association has followed up with the Ministry of Culture regarding the status of the initial 80% of the CMOG grant allocation. Our contact at the Ministry has stated that this first portion of the grant will go out to eligible recipients within the next two weeks. Council and members are disappointed that delays have been experienced again this year.

The OMA is continuing its negotiations with the Ministry for the delivery of the Community Museum Standards Workshops (Education and Interpretation, and Exhibition). We look forward to making an announcement when all the details are worked out. The first Standards Workshop will be offered on the afternoon of Thursday, October 16 in Sault Ste. Marie before the OMA conference. The OMA is now accepting registrations for this workshop.

To sign up for the workshop and for the full conference program go to www.museumsontario.com

Free Tool Kit available at Conference "Planning for Long-Term Financial Sustainability" session

The OMA’s Treasurer, Michael Herrera, will walk delegates through the tools and financial models their institutions can use to ensure future financial health. Delegates will learn how to determine and chart long-term revenue streams, plan for future programs and have more judicious resource allocation. You will learn to build a financial model of your revenue streams from the last decade or longer, and will review the work of the OMA’s Financial Sustainability Task Force, using the Association as the case study. Funding and earned revenue trends will be addressed to assist members with positioning for a better financial future for their institutions. Special articles and materials will be distributed to all conference delegates free of charge.

Register now! Read about Michael Herrera’s extensive experience with the non-profit sector in the Conference brochure.
