Award of Merit nomination extension

The deadline for Award of Merit nominations has been extended until Monday, September 23, 2002. The Award of Merit Committee of the Ontario Museum Association has provided the extension to give members more time following a busy summer season to nominate their colleagues and recognize their contribution to the museum community.
The Award of merit program is a great way to acknowledge excellence in the museum filed and showcase the important work being done at Ontario's museums!
Categories nominations can be submitted for:
- An individual, institution or organization involved in one of the following:
- museum management / administration (including staff training)
- research / writing (printed or electronic publications and exhibit programming)
- collections management (including conservation)
- programming / interpretation (exhibit design, public / educational programming, extension services, evaluation)
- public relations / fund raising
- facility planning and design (new construction, renovation, use of a heritage structure);
- An individual, business or organization that has made a significant contribution to the museum field in Ontario during 2001-2002;
- An outstanding volunteer or trustee who has made a significant contribution to the museum field in Ontario;
- An individual or group that has made a significant contribution to the museum field during a period of ten years;
- An individual honouring his or her lifetime achievement in the museum field in Ontario
How do I nominate someone?
The nomination guidelines and application form are available through the OMA office by calling 416-348-8672, or toll-free 1-866-OMA-8672, or by visiting the OMA website: click here for guidelines and a nomination form. A nominator and seconder are needed along with a description of the nominee's achievement and why it is outstanding, along with a maximum of three letters of support.
