OMA congratulates 2005 Award of Excellence recipient
and Certificate in Museum Studies graduates

Award of Excellence

The Ontario Museum Association is pleased to announce the 2005 Award of Excellence Recipient for Lifetime Achievement:

Dr. M. Christine Castle

Dr. Castle is being recognized for her outstanding leadership and innovation, and the dedication she has shown to advance museum education in Ontario.

In a letter of support, a peer says of Christine, "For me and for many of our colleagues, Christine Castle has been both an inspiration and a role model of what it means to be a museum professional. Her influence has encouraged me to work in this field and her example has supported my enthusiasm for our field and fostered in me the desire to be a mentor to others."

Among her many achievements are the creation of the new publication Museum Education Monitor, co-founder and coordinator of the Hamilton Museum Educator's group, co-founder and leader of the Museum Education Roundtable of Toronto, PhD level research at OISE, Master Trainer for Interpretation Canada and board member for the Canadian Association of Professional Heritage Consultants.

Certificate in Museum Studies graduates

Congratulations go to the following OMA members who have successfully completed the nine courses of the Certificate in Museum Studies (CMS) program this year:

The Award of Excellence winner and the CMS graduates will be honoured on Friday, October 14th, 2005 at the OMA Awards Banquet during the 2005 Annual Conference in Niagara Falls.
