Early Release of CMOG 80% Confirmed for 2003/2004

May 15, 2003

Minister of Culture, David Tsubouchi, and OMA President, Anne Chafe, celebrated May is Museum Month 2003 with a school group at Markham Museum and Historic Village.

The Ontario Museum Assocation, in partnership with the Markham Museum, held a special May is Museum Month event recognizing the museum's Future Committee, chaired by Markham Mayor Cousens. The Honourable David Tsubouchi, Minister of Culture, announced in his official remarks that the early release of 80% of the Community Museum Operating Grants (CMOG) is confirmed for this grant year. The Ministry of Culture will give museums 80% of their grants then process the CMOG applications. Once the application process is complete, the remaining 20% will be allocated.

The OMA is pleased that the Minister has approved this interim release again this year, and indicated that it will be officially instituted as part of the CMOG program delivery for next year and in the future.
