New Provincial Cabinet Announced

The new Cabinet announced at Queen's Park has resulted in new Ministries addressing the Eves government priorities. The Honourable Ernie Eves becomes 23rd Premier of the Province of Ontario, President of the Council and will also serve as Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs. The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Recreation was divided up with Culture moving under Minister David Tsubouchi who remains Chair of the Management Board of Cabinet.

The OMA extends its congratulations and welcomes the Honourable David Tsubouchi, MPP Markham, who becomes Minister of Culture while remaining Chair of the Management Board of Cabinet. The OMA will seek an opportunity to meet with the new minister and provide an update on the Association and the museum sector. We look forward to his participation in May is Museum Month celebrations to highlight the significant contributions of museums in every community across Ontario.
Minister Cam Jackson, MPP Burlington - Minister of Tourism and Recreation
The OMA welcomes back the Honourable Cameron D. Jackson, MPP Burlington, who returns to become Minister of Tourism, and now also Recreation. The Association is pleased to know that its cultural tourism initiatives, such as May is Museum Month, will also benefit from Minister Jackson's interest. Minister Jackson showed his support at our 1997 Burlington Conference, and spoke at both our 1999 cultural tourism-themed conference and our 2000 Annual Conference in London.
