OMA Executive Director, Marie Lalonde, attends the Canadian Museums Association's FORUM to discuss museums in Canada. | | | March 2009 | | (A) (PD) | OMA begins to plan Queen's Park Day, an advocacy event held at the Legislative Assembly of Ontario to promote the role of museums in their communities. OMA completes the '08-'09 edition of Let's Get Digital, a collections development project with CHIN. Between July '08 and January '09, the OMA trained and assisted 15 institutions accross Ontario with the creation and upload of over 400 records and 855 accompanying images to the Artefacts Canada online database. | | | April 2009 | | (A) | OMA arranges meetings with Ontario Ministers, Parliamentary Assistants, MPPs and Chiefs of Staff for Queen's Park Day. OMA Executive Director, Council Members and 14 museum community representatives met with 45 Ontario Ministers, Parliamentary Assistants, MPPs, Chiefs of Staff and Senior Policy Advisors to discuss Ontario museums' vital contributions to vibrant and creative communities. OMA present at the press conference announcing the Ministry of Culture's new Museums and Technology Fund. OMA identified by Ministry Senior Staff as the "primary stakeholder" in recognition of its position in the museum sector, its mandate, training, support, programs, services, and membership. OMA appears on TFO showcasing artifacts from Canada's Sports Hall of Fame, The Bata Shoe Museum, the Cabbagetown Regent Park Community Museum and the Textile Museum of Canada. | | | June 2009 | | (PD) | OMA plans the '09-'10 edition of Let's Get Digital, a collections development project with CHIN. | | | July 2009 | (PD) | OMA launches the '09-'10 edition of Let's Get Digital and plans to provide training to, and assist 15 to 20 Ontario institutions create and collectively upload over 400 records and more than 2000 accompanying images to the Artefacts Canada online database. | | | August 2009 | (PD) (PD) | OMA delivers pilot Regional Forum to members of the Kingston Association of Museums, Art Galleries and Historic Sites (KAM), which included sector updates, museum technology information session and a digitization workshop. Participants were delighted to welcome the Honourable John Gerretsen, Minister of the Environment and MPP for Kingston and the Islands. OMA launches the Museum Technology and Digitization Centre.
