A fun-filled day of interactive family activities took place at the Eaton Centre. Visitors got a sneak peak at Transformation AGO, learned to detect counterfeit bills with help from the Currency Museum of the Bank of Canada, discovered Black history in Ontario with the Ontario Black History Society and tried Palimpsest, the ancient custom of reusing paper, with the Koffler Gallery. At the OMA's table, materials from Ontario museums were available along with May is Museum Month temporary tattoos and posters. Visitors also filled out ballots for an Ontario museum prize package. |

Casa Loma and the Ontario Black History Society helped celebrate May is Museum Month at the Eaton Centre. A live demonstration of the art of medieval combat, May is Museum Month tatoos and information and displays about Black history in Ontario were a hit with visitors. |

| On December 17, 2003 historic Guy House at the Oshawa Community Museum & Archives was gutted by fire. The archival collection was saved thanks to the efforts of fire fighters and the entire collection suffered smoke damage, which is being reversed with careful cleaning. On International Museum Day 2005 Guy House was re-opened to the public. | ||||||||||||||||||

The Ontario Museum Association, along with its partners and members, held a launch and proclamation of May is Museum Month 2005 at the newly-opened Canadian War Museum. On hand were: Joe Geurts, Director and CEO, Canadian War Museum; Carrie Brooks-Joiner, President, Ontario Museum Association; Georges Bédard, Councillor, City of Ottawa; Claudette Paquin, Managing Director, TFO; Ivy Williams, Regional Councillor, TVOntario; Pierre Dufour, Trustee, Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation; and Colonel By. Information and displays were presented by Ottawa-area museums. |

Visitors joined the Royal Ontario Museum and the McMichael Canadian Art Collection for a fun-filled day of interactive family activities. The ROM let participants touch Zip, a live snake, and helped visitors write their name in Egyptian hieroglyphs, create origami dinosaurs and get up close and personal with prehistoric fossils, meteorites and more! Visitors also learned about the culture of Canada's Aboriginal peoples through the McMichael's hands-on artifact display, which included sculptures, tools, games and more. |

Participants in the Toronto launch of May is Museum Month discovered the wealth and diversity of museums. Visitors had the opportunity to: touch a live snake, get their hands on fossils, decorate shoe-shaped cookies, see artists at work--weavers and painters--meet medieval characters and the Red Coats. As well as: test their museum IQ, listen to the Fort York Fife and Drum, join in the comedy Menace of Venice by Men in Tights and enjoy foot-stomping tunes by Freshwater Trade. |
