Keynote Speaker: Maurice Davies, Museum Consultancy

What role do museums play in the well-being of individuals and communities? Based on his experience in the UK, Maurice Davies will share perspectives on museums' contribution to health, happiness, and well-being and outline the values of socially responsive museums identifying steps towards creating a more sustainable future.

Join Maurice Davies in the afternoon for a workshop on how museums in Ontario are making an impact on their communities and how museums might improve its contribution to communities.

Plenary Speaker: Marlene Hilton-Moore, Artist

Marlene Hilton Moore is a nationally recognized artists and sculptor of historical figures that evoke strong emotion, inspire conversation, and strengthen community relationships. Her latest work, titled Wiidookdaadiwin, was commissioned by Beausoleil First Nation, and Friends of Huronia Lookout. The Ojibway word Wiidookdaadiwin means “working together and helping one another”. Representing First Nations, explorers and military, this work recognizes the long standing relationship between these communities.
