| |
|
Speaker: Ted Wickson, Archival Consultant;
Dave O'Hara, Administrator at Fort York; Michael McClelland,
Principal, E.R.A. Architects
Moderator: Elka Weinstein, Curator,
Campbell House
Several very important and historic areas of Toronto
(Harbourfront, the Distillery District, and Fort York)
have changed greatly since the turn of the century.
This session presents expert views on how they have
changed, and what they might look like in the future. |

Museums and Municipal Cultural Planning: A Symbiotic
Relationship |
| |
|
Speakers: Bill Poole, Chair, Municipal
Planning Partnerships; Claire Loughheed, Manager, Cultural
and Heritage Services, Town of Oakville
As leaders in the cultural community, museums can play
a critical role in the development of municipal cultural
plans. Is the museum merely a stakeholder or can it
be a catalyst in moving municipal cultural planning
forward? This session will consist of a presentation
that will highlight the basic principles of municipal
cultural planning. This will be followed by a discussion
on the role museums can and should play in supporting
municipal cultural planning. |
| 3. |
|
Serving Seniors: The Museums Role in Reminiscence
and Life Review |
| |
|
Speaker: Lorie Pierce, Founder,
Memory-Links Creatives; Alicia Mitchell, Peel Heritage
Complex
Reminiscing benefits self-esteem and promotes personal
interaction for marginalized seniors, including those
with declining cognitive function. Museum artifacts
can serve as unique tools for prompting the recall of
personal memories through initiatives such as the Seniors
Outreach Program at the Peel Heritage Complex. Possibilities
exist for intergenerational experiences leading to audience
development. |

Expanding our Vision: Exhibiting, Cataloguing
and Sharing Multicultural History in Windsor |
