Toronto, February 19, 2010 - In consideration of several new factors, including the recent Cabinet shuffle and the possibility of a prorogued Ontario government in the coming weeks, the OMA Council in consultation with various stakeholders has decided to re-schedule Ontario Museums at Queen’s Park, planned for February 25, to the fall of 2010. This will give the Association and its members an opportunity to work with the new Ministry of Tourism and Culture, and to involve our new Minister, The Honourable Michael Chan. The proposed date for Ontario Museums at Queen’s Park is Tuesday October 5 to coincide with the OMA Annual Conference in Toronto. This will allow for increased regional representation at Queen’s Park, provide participants with the opportunity to also attend the conference, stretching travel budgets and building on professional development and networking plans. Within the current economic context, a Fall scheduling of the Queen’s Park event appears timely in anticipation of the Spring 2011 pre-election budget. Stay tuned for event and conference announcements. Remember to check the new calendar and other features at the OMA website. Contact:
